YELLOWTAIL KINGFISH CHARTERS - DEPARTING BLAIRGOWRIE
One of Australias most prized species to catch, the Yellowtail Kingfish is renowned for its brute strength and power and have earned the name of one of the hardest fighting fish in the ocean. Here in Victoria we are proud to have amazing Kingfish fishery during the Summer months between December and March that see thousands of Kingfish plague our offshore waters with fish ranging from 2kg rats to massive 30kg hoodlums. Our Kingfish charters depart from Blairgowrie, fishing the shallow reefs in bass straight and the deep ledges of the Port Phillip Bay entrance widely know as 'The Rip'. We vary our tecnique to target KIngfish depending on the tides, weather and depths that we are fishing. These tecniques range from Jigging, Livebaiting, trolling and whatever it takes to give you the best chance at catching a big Kingfish. We use a range of gear including heavy Jigging & livebaiting sticks as well as lighter setups for when the smaller fish are around.
We can take a maximum of 10 passengers on board our vessel but when booking as individuals we take no more than 6 anglers to improve every bodies chances at catching a Kingfish. If you hire out the entire boat you can bring up to 10 passengers but we still recommend no more than 6.
We are happy to offer tuition on the best way to improve your own catch rates. Our skipper’s can answer any questions you have on better ways to catch fish, as well as advice on weather and bay conditions for people new to the sport. The Blairgowrie Marina is the departure point. Make sure you are at the marina 10 mins before departure time, so that we leave on time.
